[11/10/2006 @541] Clarification on acceptable stories
Not often, but every now and then, I get a story that is not accepted for DXEA. At present, there is no code in place to send the submitter of the story a reason why the story was rejected, and I do not think I will code up one for reasons I shall outline here.
All the stories that get rejected are, almost universally, rejected for one and only reason: they do not contain sex. Presumably, they were nonetheless submitted to DXEA is because the author intends to include sex in some future chapters. However, that is not sufficient for DXEA to accept any such stories. At DXEA my policy is that behind every click on a story title there should be sex. When readers come to this site, it is my assumption that they are looking for sex stories, and if they click on a title, and in the end get no sex in a story, they will feel cheated.
The DXEA is not an archive for non-sexual fanfic. It is the Definitive X-Men *Erotica* Archive for a reason, and behind every click should be a sex story, not a chapter that *might* lead to sex later on.
So if you have a longer story that has non-sexual chapters, those non-sexual chapters will not be accepted to the DXEA, while the sexual chapters would be. This will not change. If this is a problem for any author, I suggest combining the non-sexual chapter with a sexual chapter, and submitting both in one form.
Each time you click "submit" on the submission form, there must be sex in the body text, or it will be rejected.
I hope this clarifies things.
[26/07/2006 @433] Font sizes adjusted
Due to popular request, I have increased font sizes slightly.
[07/03/2006 @977] Story queue cleared!
Believe it or not, I actually worked down the story queue and approved the dozens and dozens of stories that were waiting. (Some had been waiting almost a year! I have been lazy indeed and there is no excuse.)
There are a few stories still in queue (less than half a dozen) because I need to give some deeper thought as to whether I will approve them or not, or if they will require some special treatment codewise.
If you had worries about submitting because the queue was so long - well, worry no longer! The queue is now short.
There is one potential problem however. I did clear the queue in a bit of a rush, and only glanced through the character entries. There *may* be the occasional mistake in the characters featured. If you notice a disconnect between characters listed for the story, and characters actually getting laid in the story, I would very much appreciate a heads-up at samy@iki.fi.
I hope you enjoy the new approved stories!
[28/02/2003 @556] Added birthday support.
You will now see two new entries up in the page header (right below 'Stories on site'). The first one lets you know if any registered user has a birthday today, and the second one lets you know which registered user is the next one to have a birthday. Make sure to log on and put in your birthdays if you haven't already. If you have, check them to make sure they're correct.
[28/02/2003 @517] A major bug fixed!
I found out a bug that was making the site exceed its bandwidth. Whenever you tried to read a story, it went into an infinite loop and would try to repeat the story over and over again, and the page would never stop loading. This meant huge transfer amounts, and was presumably the cause of the site being down all February, since the site being down was due to huge transfer amounts. Hopefully, March will be better.
I'm also considering enlisting a volunteer 'editor' who would be in charge of approving stories for the site, since I'm too lazy to do it... If I decide to go through with this, I'll post information regarding it on the mailing list.
